Every year's a souvenir photo

Every year's a souvenir

Aleksander, 11, works in his dad's souvenir shop in the idyllic town Skarsvåg (the world's northernmost fishing village. Pop 40). Despite his young age he is a good sales man and almost got me to by some stickers. I didn't buy them because I don't really want an illustration of two moose shagging on my peli-case.

They also made a delicious king crab (aka the Stalin crab) soup which was dead cheap compared to the tourist trap North Cape (don't go there - it's a rip-off!!!) 10 km up the road. His Thai step-mum made some Norwegian waffles too. It was a great feast that charged my soul-batteries for another car journey.

My mum celebrated her 50th birthday in Skarsvåg. If you walk up and over the hills from Skarsvåg you'll find a beautiful view of North Cape and the Barents Sea, if I recall correctly.
